My laptop is one of these “widescreen” types. If you are playing movies I suppose this is great, but if you have a document filling the screen it is a disaster. With my traditional panel-at-the-top layout any PDF with a maximized window shows you very little of the text in the vertical direction. So I decided not to be traditional, thanks to the menu code in the 2.11 panel I can happily put a panel on either side and leave the full height of the screen for viewing documents.
The clock doesn’t handle it well -thats the “Tu” on the right- but it’s a small sacrifice for pleasurable PDF viewing.
