There is one more release of my deskbar calculator out there. The major features of this release are that 1/8 finally equals 0.125 (use 1 // 8 if you want the old integer arithmetic) and that I’ve bundled everything in a tarball so you get some documentation and the test script. Barring embarrassing bugs or a sudden bright idea, this will be the last release for a while.
But that isn’t the cool bit. The reason you should download it is so you can test out deskbar’s new drag and drop installation. Thanks to Sebastian Pölsterl you can now open up the deskbar preferences window, find the file for the extension (even a link like this one will work), and drag it into the preferences window. Suddenly your extension is installed and you just have to make sure it is enabled.
Two words of caution: Firstly your version of deskbar must be very recent, like this morning’s CVS recent. Secondly you have to trust the bugger whose software you’re downloading.
