So, I’m back from Australia without being bitten by any of the wildlife. There were flies though, so it wasn’t as if the fauna was a complete let-down. The kangaroos made an appearance too. So did the rain.
The ANU Kioloa campus where we stayed is an old farm with a bunch of bunk-houses and an old school-room style building about 200 km from Canberra. They are doing a good job of doing everything up so the accomodation wasn’t as austere as it might sound. There was even an internet connection, but it was a very slow radio link with a wireless access point attached to it. Guess who hadn’t bothered taking his wireless card.
The conference itself was quite interesting. Nothing ground-breaking, but we did get to hear about such things as the “Quantum Frog Technique”.
