Life in brief: I’m still job hunting. I actually got an interview for one position, but not the job. Unfortunately I’m stuck with living in Dunedin for the next year at least. Not that Dunedin is bad, just job opportunities for my skills are few and far between.
I can’t make it to Guadec – I keep promising myself I’ll turn up to one of these events, but even when travel is cheap, like linux.conf.au, something intervenes. To compensate for this lack of overseas travel I’m going to a conference in Scotland (and then a few days in Paris) at the end of June – work pays for that.
The building work is progressing well. The kitchen and bathroom have got ceilings and the wall linings are just about ready to go. The wiring has been redone without the fish tank losing power and everything appears to be moving quickly.
Still no internet at home, even worse the G5 seems to have stopped working. It was fine two weeks ago, but last night I tried to turn it on and it immediately turned itself off again. I pulled it apart looking for loose connections, but no luck. (The processor modules with their massive heat-pipe fed radiators are amazing.)
I also have some minimal CVS access again. I’ll write more about what is happening with gnome-games later.
