Please note that the deskbar calculator has been integrated into the deskbar applet and this version is no longer maintained.
This deskbar applet module gives you the ability to use the applet as a quick and simple calculator. It supports all the simple arithmetic and bitwise operators that python does. It also supports a selection of mathematical functions such as abs, sin, floor, and sqrt. Numbers can be entered in scientific, hex, and binary notation as well as the normal decimal representation.
There are two versions of the program available. A full tarball with installation instructions and documentation (and even a test suite for those who want to hack on it) and a single file suitable for using with deskbar's drag and drop installation. If your version of the deskbar applet is more recent than the 22nd of October then open the preferences window of the applet and drag the link below into it. You should now be told it installed successfully. Afterwards make sure that the extension is enabled and drag it to the top of the list so that it is the first item in the results.
The 1.7 release works with the 2.20 deskbar-applet (thanks Michael Hofmann). If you have an older version of the deskbar applet, use version 1.6 below.
